Saharo’s past 60 days performance:

Here is what we have done during past 60+ days; Saharo Foundation distributed many grocery packets in Larkana, Shikarpur and Thana Bola Khan areas among children and women who were suffering from malnutrition. Separately; we were able to award two scholarships for undergraduate students in Mehran University and Faisalabad Agriculture University in Pakistan. We also raised funds to assist a needy person in New York who was going through tough times, and then we raised money to supplement an income of a widow in Illinois and committed to provide monthly allowance until early next year that's when she will be able to stand on her feet. Those small projects impacted many lives. This was all possible because of your continuous support and trust. THANK YOU for opening up your valets to help those in need.

Any one willing to help her with collapsed roof for $400?

She has one room, small wash room and a little area, Saharo has reached out to contractor and he is asking for $400 which include bricks, cement, iron material for roof, labor charges and contractors fee. Any one willing to help?

Season's Greetings and Activity Update

Dear Philanthropist:

On Behalf of Saharo Foundation, I wish you all Happy Holidays, this is time to rejuvenate, give gifts to family & friends, and take some time from work to cherish memories during new year. As you spread the season's greetings, I encourage you to remember those who do not have luxury to buy or receive gifts, spend quality time with loved ones and feed their families during this joyous time. I urge you to take few moments to discuss the conditions of those who are struggling to pass the day with your family, friends and co-workers. There are many opportunities around us to donate and make difference in our communities, but I want to give you quick overview of  what Saharo Foundation has done during past many years.

SAHARO FOUNDATION has been engaged in multiple small scale social welfare projects since 2005. When it comes to save a life of a person who can't afford treatment, can't continue education, lacking skills for advancement or simply need quick assistance to get going, then Saharo Foundation has been there to assist. Our directors work free of cost on part time basis to run the organization, our volunteers in field have first hand experience of local conditions. We DO NOT pay for hotels, posh area offices, and do not maintain any vehicles. We believe in cutting middleman and taking your hard earned dollar directly to deserving people regardless of their religion, cast, or creed. Saharo's sole focus is on social services with minimum overhead. We have strong accountability system in place to ensure every dollar is documented properly. Please take a look at following projects and let us know if you can donate $1/Day or even less to support our efforts.

FUND RAISING ASSISTANCE

Business Owners: Keep a jar for donations in your store or business, small change will make difference. We have previously raised good money through jars.

Company Officers: Most of the companies have dollar matching programs. Saharo has previously received donations from few companies under this category. Companies have tax benefits for charity donations, please ask your company about matching donation initiative.

Philanthropists: Good way to raise money is bake sale, car washes and appeals for donations to your local grocery chains and neighbors. This encourages community involvement and creates sense of giving among children. Saharo has raised hundreds of dollars in car washes and bake sales.

Personal Donations: We have been heavily relying on your generous donations, everyone matters and every dollar counts. The small change in your wallets will make big difference in lives of those who live on $1/day.

Saharo Foundation’s Fight Against Malnutrition during Eid Al Adha 2013

Saharo Foundation’s Fight Against Malnutrition during Eid  Al Adha 2013

Saharo Foundation once again joined hands with Pakistani organization Research for Educational Assistance and Development (READ) to launch the malnutrition program during Eid holidays. Saharo Foundation raised money from generous donations to buy animals and perform Qurbani for those donors who wanted to feed poor while performing their religious obligations. Money was used to provide meat to poor people who simply can’t buy meat because of high inflation.

Saharo Foundation every year reaches out to interested people and performs Qurbani through local organization. Meat is then taken to people who are most deserving. In year 2013, Saharo distributed free bags of Qurbani meat in following villages of Sindh province:

Soomra Goth, Qasimabad
Gulistan-e -Sajjad Qasimabad
Goth Maroo Kolhi district Hyderabad
Goth Solangi near Bypass Hyderabad
Doomra Goth Qasimabad district Hyderabad
Malah Goth near Isra University, Hyderabad
Ghari Mori Khairpur

We are THANKFUL to all donors who made this possible, and we look forward to organizing another project next year.

Saharo Test Preparation Project

We all know that GRE and TOEFL are the basic requirements for admission in many universities and colleges around the globe. GRE is also a requirements for awarding many scholarships to the people of Pakistan. What we have seen is very small ratio of people from rural areas are taking advantage of the available scholarship opportunities.

Saharo Foundation is starting a Test Preparation Project to help the students of rural areas with test preparation. We will partner with local and global institutions and organizations to provide the material, coaching and possible financing for test.

We will encourage talented and motivated students to come to our centers, learn the basic skills necessary to pass the test, network with other aspirants, learn from Alumni and apply for available scholarships around the globe.

OUR PLAN

We are going to hire few Part Time teachers for MATH and ENGLISH, we will reach out to heads of educational students in rural Sindh with a request to provide free class room for evening classes. We will pay part time salary to highly qualified instructors who can teach ENGLISH and MATH three times a week in each institution. We will get all the test material and provide students at no cost, after the end of 3 month course, students will be given practice test, those who pass test but can't pay fees for "real" test will be given vouchers to use.

We will bring Alumni and Other experts who have availed the scholarship opportunities to speak with students and motivate them.
