Saharo Foundation’s November Activities for Flood Victims of Pakistan

Saharo Scholarships Fund led by Dr. Chandan Lal Chairman IBM Shah Latif University



Saharo Foundation has focused on helping talented students of Shah Latif University, Chandka Medical College, and LMC who cannot continue their education because of lack of funds. Saharo volunteer Dr. Chandan Lal screens the talented students with extreme needs who simply give up their education every year and send to Saharo Foundation for scholarship which is renewable but tied to semester results. Saharo has received so many requests for Scholarship and this fund is 100% dried up. Please come forward to sponsor a student.



Dome Homes in Mirpurkhas Sindh-ADOPT A DOME

Dr. Khalique has built a model dome home in most affected area in Sindh. This model home costs from $800-$1,000 per home. These domes were very successful in Indonesia, India, and other places. It is a very interesting concept of low cost housing. However, holding 7-8 people in a 19' dome is a bit stretch. Yes the traditional sindhi GAARO the mud Stucco will help great deal in making this house cooler in summer. Yes mud stucco will help and that can be done by the residents on as needed basis. And painting out side of the dome or the mud stucco white will help reflect away the heat from sun as well, and it will keep the dome cooler by 15 Degree F. In sindh I expect for poorer folks, to have a dome 18 to 20 feet diameter , with kitchen and may be a bathroom and WC in it, Some divider walls to make space into rooms, and even double storey it. And then I think a Lorrho " Thorny Hedge " around it will make it space for animals etc. But if anyone wants to make a dome for the animals sure can be done and a similar concrete veranda can easily be added along on any side of the dome as well.



Blankets for Flood Victims in Larkana led by Bella



Saharo Volunteer Bella Sandelo distributed Blankets/Razai in Flood Victims located in Larkana. Saharo Foundation has distributed food, rations, and blankets in Larkana area ,where thousands of victims came from Jacobabad, Ghari Khero, and Shahdadkot. Bella has helped flood Victims since August.

Saharo Foundation sponsored Qurbani during the Eid so that Flood Victims who are lacking proper nutrition can eat meat during their Religious day of celebration. This activity not only helped to feed them and their kids, but they understood that American Sindhis do care for them; it certainly reduced depression and other symptoms. Thanks to all who sponsored animals for Qurbani.





SAHARO FOUNDATION USA AND READ DISTRIBUTED WATER FILTERS IN FLOOD VICTIMS led by Irfan Jumani



On 5th of November 2010 Saharo Foundation USA and READ has distributed 50 Ceramic water filters in flood victims at GOR Colony Hyderabad, READ got Water tested from Pakistan Council of Research in water Resources. Report shows it is very safe for drinking and PH Level is 7.00 which is in range for drinking water according to WHO standards, The Ceramic water filters were donated by Dr Khalique Panhwar sahib.


Before Filters were distributed Dr Nazir Abbasi shared information how clean and filtered water is safe for health ,At last Saharo Foundation and READ Chairman Irfan Jumani General Secretary Dr Qamardin Mahar were grateful to Saain Dr Khalique Panhwar for donating Ceramic water filters. Saharo Foundation USA and READ will deliver 500 ceramic water filters to flood victims in few weeks

Saharo Abuse Victim Fund



Saharo Foundation has set up a abuse victim fund. This fund is dedicated to support all abuse victims in United States and throughout the globe. Saharo received $1,000 donation for this fund, and 100% donations were given to a female Sindhi American in United States who was used to live in shelter, but now she is going towards self sustaining phase.
