Saharo Foundation Supported ARI(Acute Respiratory Infection)
Center For Small Children at Civil Hospital Jacobabad
Saharo Foundation USA and READ with collabration of UN-WHO have opened (Acute respiratory infection) Center at Civil Hospital Jacobabad for the period two months.
Acute respiratory illness is one of the main causes of ill health in children,The grim picture of child health situation could be seen in the annual health report of Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) for the year 2012, which says one child died every minute from EPI (expanded program on immunization diseases), diarrhea and acute respiratory infection (ARI). The report also reveals that every year about 400000 infants die in the first year of their life. Acute pneumonia is a common problem in upper districts of Sindh.
Many children in the target area cannot access the urgent medical care for severe illnesses. Currently there is no ARI Center in DHQ Jacobabad. Under these circumstances there is a critical need to set up ARI Center, in order to provide effective treatment and services to the affected children.
Saharo Foundation USA and READ in close collaboration with WHO ensured that the emergency medicines and supplies necessary for the treatment of ARI patients and also Ensured that infection prevention measures according to WHO protocols are implemented.
