The Renainssance of Sindh

Written by Mukhtiar kapri

The Renaissance of Sindh
Sindh is the richest province of Pakistan and second most populated province. Pakistani has a similar kind of culture and tradition. However, Sindhi people are Sufi and believing Islam is a religion of emancipation, which gives equal status to men and women. Every one, white or black, man or woman, rich or poor is equal in the eyes of God. In fact, they believe that humanity is a big religion. Whether Hindu or Muslim they consider equally as their hero such as Ruppilo, Hemoon Kalani, Hoshoo Sheedi, Jetho Wanyo, Amar Shaheed Kanwaar Bhaghat, Shah Bilawal, Shah Enayat, and hero of freedom: Sabugutullah Shah Rashdi (Soreh Badshah).

When we go through primitive history of Sindh in which peace of river was used to flow and its people were prosperous economically, politically and culturally. There was no any concept of treachery and intrigue. Every where people were living with love and security. No any religion was there which might be cause of any restriction. There was one of the greatest ruler Raja Dahir who made Sindh one of the supper powers of the world.

Realizing that beauty of Sindh, imperialists of the world had started eye on this heaven. They attempted to invade on it various times. Every time they failed in their mission. In fact, Sindhi soldiers contested bravely and defeated them very easily. Sometimes they could not find the way to return their country.

It was worst morning in 711 when Muhammad Qasim attacked over peaceful and prosperous land and he conquered it completely, imposed Arab culture which was based on murdering and killing. When Sindhi people saw that new culture was dangerous for their culture. Realizing this, they protested and demanded to revive their own culture. At last, they succeeded in that movement. Arab invaders thinking this and flew from soil of Sindh forever, despite left their some seed of hatred and jealousy. Now it was big challenge for Sindhi community to eradicate this disease. After all, they again succeeded to eliminate Arabs’ culture.

In fact, after Arabs, Sindhi community divided into two classes: Muslim and Hindu. In spite of this, their culture and tradition remained same as before. Both communities made their worship places in the same streets. So different was seen in only worshiping and other things were same. The saints of both communities were respected and regarded spiritual and lover of God. People used to go to their place in order to get pray. The thing is that it is also still prevalent in the Sindh. For example, shrine of Shah Latif, Qalander, Udairo Lal sain, Bhugat Ram and Khoobo Bhugat of Shahdadpur.

In this way, Sindh was attacked several times by Arabs, Turkhan, Mangoles, Afghans and Britishiers. They murdered many innocent indigenous people so much so that they made biggest graveyard of the world in Thatta. These all nations not only exploited the territory of Sindh but wanted to impose imperialist culture. In fact, this was their mistake that Sindhi people can accept death but will not compromise to intervene in culture. When Iranian imposed Persian language in the place of Sindhi language. Even though they made slogans that those persons would be ridden on the horse who knew Persian language. Then it became necessary for Sindhi people to learn invaders’ language in order to get privileges and immunities from attackers. So many of them started to learn Persian language. On the other hand, the existence of Sindhi language was seeming at very stake. To see that condition, poet of Sindh took this responsibility on their shoulders to save their language which was only their identity. At that time there was no any facility of printing or publishing books. So there was only one way to save Sindhi language that was visiting whole Sindh and reciting their poetry in the memory of Sindhi language that their sweet source of communication was planning to eradicate from their mother soil. When these poets were wandering in every corner of village and cities of Sindh. Wherever they used to see crowd of Sindhi people, immediately they used to recite their verses that invaders had decided to make a plan to impose Persian language in the place of Sindhi language. The audiences were becoming very emotional and starting to weep that imperialists were become enemy of their language. Poems were so emotional that many audiences became poets and began to make their verses about Sindhi language. Singers also played very vital role and they used poetry in the songs, for instance, “OhGod! it may not be happened when it will be heard that there was one place where Sindhi language was spoken.”

The matter of the fact is that it was Sindhi renaissance which means revival or rebirth of knowledge. In other words, it was revolution of knowledge which was based on the survival of language. In this revolution many prominent writers and poets born such great poet of the world Shah Latif was also product of this movement. He also took his mighty pen against Persian language. Once he uttered that those who would learn attackers language, that would be sign of slave. At last, revival movement of Sindhi language succeeded.

Once again Sindh is being exploited in every sphere of life. Sindhi culture is also being tried to eliminate. For this purpose religion and extremism is spreading rapidly. Hindu sindhis are kidnapped. So, for eradicating such type of disease, there is a need of movement such as renaissance which is only strong weapon for revival culture.

Dear Hanif and Mukhtiar

I have gone through positive and historical comments about Sindh History.in brief you have portrayte the real picture of Sindh and also introduced the slogan of "The Renainssance of Sindh" but Question is that Who ll come forward to take efforts for renaissance of Sindh.
I would like to share here present scenario of Sindh.

PPP Government and Sindh

My eyes were started tearing when i saw a picture of one young Sindhi,He was weeping and his head bleeding only on the pretext of collecting 10 kg bag of floor from truck loader.

One hand Sindhis are dying of hunger, attempting suicides, selling their children, looking for justice, wandering for jobs, striking for getting admissions in home Institutions, kidnapping from Roads and houses, Other hand Our Feudal Lord Politicians are increasing their Salaries, petrol Budget, House Rents, spending money on protocol, traveling with five to ten Vehicle and Security Guards.

One hand ECNEC approves 1 Trillion, 28 billions,6 million budget for Circular Railways in specific Area Other hand 300 Hundreds Sindhi Employees of ON FORM WATER MANAGEMENT have been terminated on pretext that World Bank don't release the Salaries of said Employees.

One hand, Hundreds of Schools are closed, vacant without teaching staff in Rural Areas, students studying under the trees, have no facility of drinking clean water, sanitation and necessary infrastructure, qualified teachers are waiting for posting orders Other hand,Govt: Claiming that Everything is OK.

One hand Karachi has been merged into One District and Hyderabad divided into four Districts, Sukkur City was divided into two MQM Influenced Taluka and Sindhi Rural Areas, just accommodate to MQM Nazims and Counselors.
(It is worthy noted that above demarcation is only immense influence and interest of MQM).

It is fact that we have no reservation regarding initiative on CIRCULAR RAILWAY, Rehabilitation of SUkkur Barrage,GAGI DAM and spending much more money on development of the Country but just want to know that Why Sindh Govt: and Federal Got: is neglecting/ignoring the Rural Areas where there is no life security, property security, Health Facility, Proper Educational and Vocational Facility, No Industry and Agriculture Institutions,(specific Remote Areas) although PPP made many promises to provide "ROTI,KAPRA OR MAKAN" during its Election campaign.
After coming power,Unfortunately PPP has not delivered any relief/package for Sindh

People want to know
Who all care innocent Sindhis?
Who is the responsible and accountable for all Ills??
Who and How can improve the condition of interior Sindh? Where Law and Order Situation is going bad to worse.

Although Sindh possess huge Natural Resources (OIL,GAS,COAL) and contribute 60% to 70% in Annual Budget.

Sindhis are waiting for unresolved Question

Dear Mukhtiar,

You touched very important points. The loss given the arab traders are really very deep. When the English people occupied here, they were surprised to see persian n before this Arabic as official languages here..they all eradicated these languages n make the sindhi offiial language,,,with its immense development..

Muhammad bin Qasim was looter..he came only to loot Sindh's resources n also he kidnapped many Sindhi women n took them to Arabistan..

Well, I hope to see more such wonderful writings from you..
