Saharo Foundation USA,Petarians Washington DC and READ distributed Uncooked Food in 45 Families/300 people in 4 Pockets Camps in Qasimabad, Hussainabad and Marvi Town
On 20th October 2010, Saharo Foundation USA, Petarians Washington DC and READ distributed uncooked food at various pocket camps, whereas all victims were from KN Shah; further details are as follows;
Per Family Package
5 Kg wheat flour bag
1 kg Onion
1kg Cooking oil
½ kg Sugar
½ kg Pulse(Daal Chana)
300 gram red chilies
800 gram salt
Milk 50 pockets 250ml
2 Bath Soap
Last but not least; after careful study Saharo Foundation and READ has selected now pocket camps because;
1. It is difficult to cover large camps due to less resources and logistics.
2. Victims in large camps receive regular food from National and International donor agencies like, Pukar (Imran Khan) NCHD, Red Crescent, Crew, UN, USAID, OCHA and many more, on the other hands government also regularly supply food and medicine at large camps .Although supply is full but as the scale of the problem is high so at every camp always gap exist and victims complains for numerous things.
At large camps attacks for food on social workers are very common and at many times social workers have suffered injuries as well.Therefore Saharo Foundation and READ have decided to cover pockets camps consisting on 30 to 40 families /100 to 300 people. Pockets camps are located at each and every area of Qasimabad , Hussainabad , Bhittai Town, Marvi Town etc. Victims have Rent houses /or they live with their relatives but as they left their all precious belongings back to their villages therefore they can’t pay for food, medicine, milk and other necessities of life, These people are unable to get assistance from government or other NGOs and are in great miserable situation. Therefore Saharo Foundation and READ have chosen 15 pockets camps at Hyderabad and decided to supply weekly food packages to them.
