Saharo Foundation USA and READ with collabration of UN-WHO have opened (Acute respiratory infection) Center at Civil Hospital Jacobabad for the period two months.
Acute respiratory illness is one of the main causes of ill health in children,The grim picture of child health situation could be seen in the annual health report of Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) for the year 2012, which says one child died every minute from EPI (expanded program on immunization diseases), diarrhea and acute respiratory infection (ARI). The report also reveals that every year about 400000 infants die in the first year of their life. Acute pneumonia is a common problem in upper districts of Sindh.

Saharo Foundation Non-Profit School

THANKS TO ALL WHO HAVE ALREADY DONATED, We have raised nearly $10,000. Please forward to your family and friends.

Saharo Non Profit School Project

MISSION STATEMENT

The Saharo Foundation School is a public, non-profit, multi-age K-5 school serving Larkana District and the surrounding communities with a mission to provide international standard education through core curriculum while infusing second language and innovative teaching methods which will nurture problem solving and leadership skills.

OUR VISION

Our vision is to establish international standard technologically connected school from elementary to high school in rural areas of developing
countries where there are no other means to get non-traditional quality education with focus on females.

SCHOOL DETAILS

This Non-Profit school is located in the heart of Larkana District at Village Sattar Dino, about 5 kms away from city on main road connecting Larkana with Mirokhan. School will initially be for classes 1-5 and potentially going towards high school level.

WHY THIS SCHOOL

Public schools have crippled in Pakistan because of corruption in education system, people who can afford are sending kids to profitable private schools in Larkana and those who simply can’t afford tuition fees of private schools have opted to remove kids from schools. This is situation in
urban areas of Larkana! Let’s think about rural areas where schools have turned in to ghost buildings with ghost teachers who are drawing salaries. Our young generation especially girls are being pushed into dark ages. We CAN’T change the system overnight but we can help people by giving them other option of introducing innovative ways to create problem solvers, critical thinkers, and decision-makers from early age, so they can compete in this tech savvy world.

Larkana has population of over 2 Million people with more than 72% living in rural area. According to data, illiteracy ratio among females is over 70% in Larkana area. According to U.S National Institute of Building Sciences:

School facilities have a profound impact on their occupants and the functions of the building, namely teaching and learning. Children in various stages of development are stimulated by light, color, the scale of their surroundings, even the navigational aspects of their school. Children can also react negatively to adverse conditions.

WHAT MAKES IT UNIQUE

The school will have set of instructions in both Sindhi and English (Also possibly choice of Arabic Education so students can explore Middle East Opportunities where many American Universities are opening their campuses), there will be computer lab connected with International schools. Kids
who graduate from here will have countless options, from exploring exchange students to attending cadet colleges. School curriculum will focus on shaping the LEADERS for tomorrow. It's not about counting years in school; education is all about opening innovative minds and giving children tools so they can plan for their life. It's a catalyst for development and growth, so let’s provide them this lifetime opportunity.

We will not only focus on traditional curriculum but children will develop variety of problem solving, confidence building and leadership skills through use of technology and open line of communication between teachers, students, parents and community members. Students of all ages will be introduced to creative world of arts, creativity exists in children and they will learn by making mistakes just like we all do. South Asian educational system have very little room of making mistakes and learning from them, they follow traditional family ways of learning, but we will introduce the model where they will make their own decisions by mastering problem solving skills. Fear blocks creativity, so this environment will be free of all fears. Our school and class sizes and student teacher ratio will be based upon the research conducted in the United States

(http://www.brookings.edu/gs/brown/bpepconference/ReadyLee_Paper.pdf\) We will ensure that our school meet or exceed international standards of
education. School will focus on physical activity and meeting nutritional needs through serving lunches at school.

HOW WILL THIS AFFECT SOCIETY

Education is the most valuable gift we can ever give to any society. We need both boys and girls of area to get quality education, can’t ignore 50% of society by not having educational opportunity for them. We can create better tomorrow if we meet the pre-requisite which is elementary school. We need to lay the strong foundation at elementary level to get permanent improvement otherwise we will face challenges where youth will not be able to compete at global level. Elementary education is just the first step we take during childhood; we can’t run if we don’t learn to
walk.

Children at birth are natural scientists, engineers, and problem-solvers. They consider the world around them and try to make sense of it the best way they know how: touching, tasting, building, dismantling, creating, discovering, and exploring. For kids, this isn't education. It's fun!
Anthony Murphy is executive director of the U.S National Center for STEM Elementary Education

SOLAR POWER FOR SCHOOL

The solar energy is abundantly available in Larkana, solar powered school will perfectly fit here and it will contribute towards minimizing the energy crisis. Our solar project will motivate other to think about renewable energy resources. Saharo Foundation is currently consulting with other organizations and looking for donors for this to happen. This will be the FIRST solar powered school of Pakistan. South Korean team conducted extensive study of Larkana area in January 2012 for providing solar power to Medical College, this study came up with very positive results about the area and recommended installing solar panels at local hospital. Currently, we are contacting donoros and environmental institutions for sponsorship.

PHASES

School will be divided in phases, the estimate of each phase is Rs: 1 Million, depending upon the donations we will divide one phase over the year. This will project will upto 5 years. Our short term focus will be on Elementary/Primay education during phase one, we will start school with elementary level and investment will be Rs: 1 Million, next year we will add more classes to reach upto Middle Level and so on.

ACCOUNTABILITY

Saharo Foundation has signed MoU with Research for Educational Assistance and Development (READ), this project will be in partnership with READ,
funds will be transfered in the name of registered organization. Saharo will require all receipts, progress reports with pictures and financial statements. Project Lead in Larkana will be Professor Jaam Jammali (92-307-3474831). Our teams will perodically visit the site to check the progress. All donors will be updated regularly. Non Profit School Project

Dear Friends,

Our government schools have shut down because of corruption in education system, people who can afford are sending kids to profitable private schools in Larkana and those who simply can’t afford tuition fees of private schools have opted to remove kids from schools. This is situation in urban areas of Larkana! Let’s think about rural areas where schools have turned in to ghost buildings with ghost teachers who are drawing salaries. Our young generation especially girls are being pushed into dark ages. We CAN’T change the system overnight but we can help people by giving them other option and introducing innovative ways to create problem solvers, critical thinkers, and decision-makers from early age, so they can compete in technological world.

Saharo Foundation, a 501©(3) organization is starting a Non-Profit School in village Sattar Dino located on Mirokhan Road in District Larkana, this modern primary school connected with world will have 250-300 students with 25% students on scholarships. 75% students will pay normal fees to sustain this school. Parents of area will still save transportation costs. There is no NON-PROFIT school in area. A Generous person has donated land (nearly 2 acres worth more than 1 Million Rupees) located right on main highway (Larkana-Mirokhan) for this school. The school will have set of instructions in both Sindhi and English, there will be computer lab and it will be connected with International schools. Kids who graduate from here will have countless options from exploring exchange students to attending cadet colleges. School curriculum will focus on shaping the LEADERS for tomorrow.

Now, I need YOUR help and personal attention, not asking for a FORTUNE. My estimate is $100,000 for this project, so we need ONLY 100 people like you with $1000 donation!!!

This project will change lives of kids in rural area, those RICH PEOPLE (by heart) who have no money to send their kids to school will enormously benefit from this project.
